Ever since he could walk and talk, Brock wanted his CDL endorsement. He comes from a long line of truckers and farmers, from his Grampa to his Dad and even his older brother. When Brock was 5 months away from graduating high school he reached out to Michigan Works! to see about training assistance to get his CDL. He wanted to start the process in January because he knew he wanted to enroll in the Road Warriors Truck Driver classes that would start in May, immediately following his high school graduation.
Working with Michigan Works! Career Advisor Tracy Bohl, Brock was able to get his tuition covered in full, as well as receive mileage reimbursement for his three weeks of training.
Brock walked for graduation on May 23, was in training at Road Warriors starting May 28, completed his course on June 14, and started employment with S&J Excavating in Roscommon by June 17 making $18/hr. In less than four weeks after his graduation, Brock had completed his training, got his CDL license, and landed a job – all with no tuition or mileage expenses on his end!
Brock is not a guy who lets the grass grow under his feet. He had previously worked on the family farm during the summers and most recently as a laborer for S&J Excavating. He is very excited to begin his new career and is thankful for the assistance Michigan Works! was able to provide.
