Ryan came to the Alpena Michigan Works! office looking for employment, but he had a problem. He had no phone and no way of giving potential employers a way to contact him. Without having a means to be contacted, Ryan was having a very hard time securing employment.
Michigan Works! Career Advisor, Mary, recognized this barrier to employment and was able to use BRES funding (Barrier Removal Employment Success) to get Ryan a pre-paid phone card, offering Ryan access to a phone and internet data service. Thanks to this assistance, Ryan can contact employers and be contacted by employers.
