New Town, New Resume, New Week, New Job!

Dorothy came into the Onaway Michigan Works! office a day after moving to town from southern Michigan. She didn’t have a vehicle and needed to find a job within walking distance of her new home.

Michigan Works! Career Navigator Kristina helped Dorothy create an account on the Pure Michigan Talent Connect website and tweaked her current resume to reflect her strengths and accomplishments. Dorothy was very nervous and scared about moving to a new town and not having a job. Kristina offered to sit with her and help her do a "mock interview" and gave her tips on how to be successful during interviews.

Exactly one week later, Dorothy visited Kristina in the office, wearing her new work uniform, to proudly announce she had landed the job; she wanted to thank Kristina for all her help and for giving her suggestions on where to apply that she hadn’t thought of.

Dorothy says she attributes getting the job due to her new and improved resume. She’s thankful for Kristina’s assistance and positive thinking!
