With Michigan Works! Help, Busy Wife & Mom, Goes Back to School to Help Save Lives

Sarah wears many hats: wife, mom of 4, and now studying to become a EMT/Paramedic at North Central Michigan College. She was herself a home-schooled student and she was once employed as a public school principle, but found that wasn't a good fit, as her real love was saving lives! She has a history of schooling in the sciences, art and history. She came to Michigan Works! to see if they could help her get her EMT certificate.

Thanks to the Michigan Learning and Education Advancement Program, Michigan Works! was able to help Sarah pay for $2,000 towards her EMT course. Sarah is currently working to get her clinical’s completed so she can wrap up her classes and move on to her new field of choice. She is on track to receive her EMT certificate on August 16, 2024. She’s very excited at what the future holds and states, “Don’t let go of your dreams! Don’t stay somewhere you are unhappy – do what you love!”
